David practiced law in Springfield, Mass., for 31 years (1977-2008), then moved to the New Haven area. He moved to the New Haven area because he got married and he and his wife, who is from the New Haven area, decided to live in the New Haven area rather than the Springfield area. David eventually closed his Massachusetts law practice, landed a part-time teaching job at the University of New Haven (UNH), and was admitted to the Connecticut Bar.

In 2012, David is a practitioner-in-residence at UNH. He is on the faculty of UNH's Department of Economics and Finance. He teaches Econ 629 (Business and Society, which is a course about business ethics, business law, and the relationship between business and society), and he often teaches law-related courses in one or more other departments at UNH. In Fall 2011, he taught CJ 217 (Criminal Procedure I), Communications 420 (Communications and the Law), and Econ 629 (Business and Society) at UNH. See the faculty listings on UNH's Department of Economics and Finance webpage.
